Linkenheimer LLP CPAs & Advisors decided to forgo annual Christmas party to volunteer at local charity event.

12/26/09 – This year, Linkenheimer LLP CPAs & Advisors decided to forgo their annual Christmas party for the opportunity to serve the community that has been so good to them over the past 75 years. The Redwood Gospel Mission and the Salvation Army teamed up to provide meals, clothing, groceries and other necessities to over 5,000 who needed assistance in our community.

Linkenheimer's partners, staff and family served at the Christmas event that took place at the Sonoma County fairgrounds on December 23rd, 2009. The staff worked in the kitchens, clothing distribution, food hall and face painting areas. In addition to volunteering at the Redwood Gospel Mission Christmas event, Linkenheimer also made numerous donations to local charities in the name of their clients.

Linkenheimer feels blessed to have been a part of this exceptional Christmas event and we are grateful to the community for allowing us to serve you for the past 75 years.

2008 LINKENHEIMER NICARAGUA EYE CARE PROJECT

Inspired by the previous eye care projects of John Jones; Linkenheimer employees, family and friends left San Francisco International Airport January 4th for a 4 day eye care project on the San Juan River. During our trip we saw over 600 patients and were able to give out over 500 pairs of glasses. One group that is constantly trying to improve the way of life for the people down there is the San Juan Rio Relief. They work to provide medical necessities such as medical supplies and physician care for a number of villages down the Rio San Juan. To check out their site, you can click here.

EYE CARE PROJECTS

During the winter of 1995, our managing partner John Jones participated in the first of many humanitarian eye care clinics sponsored by his Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotary club. The first clinic was conducted in the Mayan villages of southern Mexico. The second trip occurred in 1997 when the volunteers traveled to Haiti and performed over 500 eye exams. The next eye care clinic took John Jones and several fellow Rotarians to Guatemala for seven days in June 1999. Over 1,100 Guatemalans received eye exams, 662 pairs of eye glasses were dispensed and 80 cataract patients were referred to a Guatemalan ophthalmologist for free surgery. John was honored as Rotarian of the Year for 1998-1999 by the Sunrise Rotary Club for his outstanding leadership in the Guatemalan eye care project.

Rotary projects also brought John and the team to the island of Samoa, as well as Nicaragua, where they performed over 1200 eye exams and funded 80 cataract surgeries. In January 2006 John and fellow Rotarians traveled to Ho Chi Minh City for a combined eye and dental project. This was an adventure, especially “working” with the government officials to have them release the 3,000 pair of eye glasses that the customs officials retained at the airport. In July 2007 John brought the Young Adults from St Mark Lutheran Church to the San Juan River of Nicaragua where they examined eyes and dispensed glasses to residents of the El Castillo area. This region of Nicaragua had never seen eye care before.

KIDDACCOUNTS

As CPAs, we deal with people and their money on a frequent basis. Over the years we have come to realize that many people have little or no basic budgeting and savings habits. If grown-ups are not budgeting and saving, chances are their children are not learning how to manage their money either, even at the most elementary level.

Using ideas that kids can easily grasp, several of our Linkenheimer staff developed a three week program that is very interactive in its approach. Kids are involved in the discussion throughout the presentations.

Each child receives an illustrated workbook whose main character (LESTER LYNX) helps them understand the concept of making the most of a buck. An oversized $BudgetBuck$ introduces the idea that there is more to a dollar than just spending it.

The program and all materials are provided to schools at no cost.   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

CHARLIE BROWN

Linkenheimer is the proud to have been a sponsor supporting  "It's Your Town Charlie Brown" during the summer of 2005. The firm purchased a Charlie Brown statue to grace it's doors titled, "Doing Well by Doing Good."
The statue is a representation of a "typical accountant" with visor, calculator and pocket protector. However, upon closer inspection and introspection you can see there is nothing typical about our Charlie the accountant. The concept of the statue speaks to the many years of community involvement by all of the partners of Linkenheimer as well as many staff members. Throughout the statue are references to our commitment to teaching children about budgeting and saving and really about making responsible choices. We have continued to support this program and have added a Woodstock and a Snoopy statue as well.

"Doing Well by Doing Good" represents Linkenheimer's place in this community as well their approach to doing business.
