Q3 Estimated Tax Payments (Individuals)

If you pay estimated taxes, your third quarter payment is due September 15.

How to pay: IRS Direct Pay at irs.gov is free and processes immediately.

California note: California generally does not require a third quarter estimated tax payment. However, if your income has changed significantly from last year, you may need to make a third quarter estimate to “catch-up.” Please contact your tax advisor if this is the case.

Estimated Tax Payments (Businesses)

Your entity may owe an estimated payment too. C corporations make estimated tax payments in installments through the year, and the next one is due September 15. This quarter there is no scheduled California payment, however if income is significantly different be sure to contact your tax advisor to determine if an estimated tax payment is necessary.

Same goes for your S Corporation. There is no federal estimate, and generally no state estimate. Federal payments go through EFTPS; California payments go through FTB Web Pay at ftb.ca.gov/pay.
